Saint Jude Thaddeus

St Jude is universally recognized as “HELP IN DESPERATE CASES”.

He was the son of Alpheus Cleophas's brother Joseph also known as the husband of Mary, therefore, first cousin of Jesus.

He was a disciple of Jesus as a boy, being of kinship and certainly familiar to Mary and Joseph.

His brothers were James, the first bishop of Jerusalem; Joseph nicknamed the righteous; Simon, the second Bishop of Jerusalem; Maria Salome, wife of Zebedee and mother of James the greater; John the beloved disciple.

Was of generosity of spirit and sensitive, decided to follow the Lord with absolute determination to the point of martyrdom.

His field of work was almost certainly Mesopotamia, Judea and Persia and in its wake left conversions and miracles.

Tradition has it that Jude with his teammate Simon the Canaanite near Suamyr has ran into stubborn dislike of pagan priests that pitting against them the people ended up sending them to death. Judas in particular was beaten severely with sticks, tied up, placed on a pile of wood and burned. Handed down many miraculous deeds is in the condition of martyrdom that then in the tradition and piety of the faithful and devoted.

It is my opinion that St. Jude may be regarded as the Saint of the unity of Christians saw the recognition it enjoys among the churches: 19 June celebrates the Greek Church; 16 February the Armenian Church; 2 July the Coptic Church; on 28 October the Latin Church.
